Draft Recap

My initial reaction to draft picks as they happened.

1st Pick – Arizona Cardinals – QB Kyler Murray (Oklahoma)
If Kinsbury doesn’t get the job, where does he get picked?  What does this do for Rosen’s trade value? I’m NOT a fan of this pick.  So much wasted draft capital last year on Rosen.

2nd Pick – San Francisco 49ers – DE Nick Bosa (Ohio St)
No brainer here.  Easy pick, good fit.

3rd Pick – New York Jets – DT Quinnen Williams (Alabama)
They tried to trade this pick by the sounds of it to avail. So they take the best available player.  Nice job by the jets.

4th Pick – Oakland Raiders – DE Clelin Ferrell (Clemson)
The reach is real with this one.  Oakland feels like the new Browns.  He could have been around at 24.

5th Pick – Tampa Bay Buccaneers – LB Devin White (LSU)
Another no brainer. Makes complete sense for the Bucs here.

6th Pick – New York Giants – QB – Daniel Jones (Duke)
Not sure I would have done this.  The giants need a quarterback for the future badly. This just seems they like his pocket awareness over Haskins.  Now let’s see when he gets thrown into a game.

7th Pick – Jacksonville Jaguars – LB Josh Allen (Kentucky)
A best available pick here.  Could be a steal at 7.  I like this pick for the Jaguars, don’t like that I have to see him twice a year now.

8th Pick – Detroit Lions – TE T.J Hockenson (Iowa)
Statford gets a new toy.  They don’t really fill a need here, but they take one the better tight end prospects in years.

9th Pick – Buffalo Bills – DT Ed Oliver (Houston)
A nice little gift falls in the lap of the bills.  Oliver was a top 5 picks in some mock drafts.

10th Pick – Pittsburgh Steelers (Traded from Denver) – LB Devin Bush (Michigan)
A good trade here for both teams, Broncos didn’t need to pick Haskins or Locke after the Flacco trade.  Steelers need to replace Schzier

11th Pick – Cincinnati Bengals – T Jonah Williams (Alabama)
A great pick, I really like that they didn’t go Haskins or Locke here.  No need to rush a Dalton replacement this early in the first round.  He could be the guy that helps keep Dalton upright and healthy this year.

12th Pick – Green Bay – DE Rashan Gary (Michigan)
He can play the edge which will make the packers defense a little more scary.  Packers defiantly needed to address their defense this draft.

13th Pick – Miami Dolphins – DT Christian Wilkins (Clemson)
Another team benefits from a gift falling into their lap.  Great pick here for the Dolphins.  Signing Ryan Fitzpatrick didn’t necessarily mean they had to take a quarterback.  Good on the GM here for this pick.

14th Pick – Atlanta Falcons – G Chris Lindstrom (Boston College)
A great fit pick for the Falcons. Why force something when Lindstrom makes the most sense here.

15th Pick – Washington Redskins – QB Dwayne Haskins (Ohio St)
Snyder gets his guy.  I’m more shocked they didn’t trade up to get him.  I’m not sold on him, but only time will tell.

16th Pick – Carolina Panthers – DE Brian Burns (Florida St)
Another nice fit.  Great player at a great spot.

17th Pick – New York Giants – DT Dexter Lawrence (Clemson)
All I can think of is, this guy will always be the guy traded for Odell.

18th Pick – Minnesota Vikings – C Garrett Bradbury (NC State)
Nations top center.  Will defiantly help the offensive line.  Another great fit pick.

19th Pick – Tennessee Titans – DT Jeffery Simmons (Mississippi St)
Another great pick by an AFC South team.

20th Pick – Denver Broncos  (This pick was part of the package they got for 10) – TE Noah Fant (Iowa)
This is my 2nd most surprised pick behind the Raiders at 4.  He warrants a 20th overall pick and has the athletic ability, but is this the right fit at this time?

21st Pick – Green Bay Packers (Traded from Seattle) – S Darnell Savage Jr (Maryland)
The Packers keep getting better on defense and the price tag was great.  2 4th round picks to move up 10 spots is a great price to pay.

22nd Pick – Philadelphia Eagles (Traded from Baltimore) – T Andre Dillard
Wentz needs to stay up right it’s simple. Dillard will help this.

23rd Pick – Houston Texans – T Tytus Howard (Alabama St)
First Round Talent? A big jump coming for Tytus to the NFL.

24th Pick – Oakland Raiders – RB Josh Jacobs (Alabama)
Defiantly the best running back in the class.  He can catch and pass block.  Great pick.

25th Pick – Baltimore Ravens (Part of the package from the Eagles for 22nd) – WR Marquise Brown (Oklahoma)
The #1 ranked wide receiver in the draft class.  Will he be fully utilized with a QB in Lamar Jackson throwing to him?

26th Pick – Washington Redskins (Traded from Indianapolis) – EDGE Montez Sweat (Mississippi St)
The feel fall started during his medical at the combine.  Was it misdiagnosed or not? This could be an incredible steal for the skins if healthy.  I kind of wish the colts kept this pick and took the risk.

27th Pick – Oakland Raiders – S Johnathan Abram (Mississippi St
Some considered the best safety in the draft. Personal opinion – the best raider pick in the first round in their draft spot.

28th Pick – Los Angeles Chargers – DT Jerry Tillery (Notre Dame)
Hurt most of his senior year, fills a need for the Chargers.

29th Pick – Seattle Seahawks – DE L,J Collier (TCU)
It’s time to rebuild the legion of doom.  Great pick here for Seattle.

30th Pick – New York Giants (Traded from Seattle) – CB Deandre Baker (Georgia)
Giants want all the 1st round picks apparently.  When I first saw this trade, I instantly thought Metcalf. On field talent is there, many questioned his character and intelligence.

31st Pick – Atlanta Falcons (Traded from Los Angeles Rams) – T Kaleb Mcgary (Washington)
The Falcons defiantly wanted this guy and didn’t think he would be there at 45.  He’ll need some work at the NFL level.

32nd Pick – New England Patriots – WR N’Keal Harry (Arizona St)
The 2nd WR picked over Metcalf.  He can line up anywhere which we know TB will love
