There are 4 teams that I will regularly look to bet against, the habs, senators, red wings and canucks. These are just bad hockey teams. The Maple Leafs open the season as the Stanley Cup favorites which pains me to write, but this is 2018 and appears to be true. The addition of hometown legend John Tavares propelled the leafs from a play-off team to cup contender. You know they want nothing more than to light up arch rival Montreal. The Leafs should win this in regulation and by multiple goals.
Capitals -130 vs Bruins (1.3u to win 1)
The Washington Capitals finally get to raise a cup banner. You know there will be a giant production which probably leaves a bored bruins team sitting on the visiting bench. I expect a sluggish start by both teams here. Although I expect a giant Stanley cup hang over for the capitals this season, I do think they win the first game in front of their home fans. Bergeron for the bruins is banged up, says he’s ready but did not play in an exhibition game. He is a key part to the Bruins special teams and in today’s NHL, games can be won and lost based on special team plays. The bruins will probably be juggling lines to start the game. Look for the caps to win their home opener.
